Perhaps it’s crossed your mind why… Why do I do what I do?
I wish I could give you solid answers. The reality is… I’m human just like you (assuming).
If that question hasn’t crossed your mind, no worries, you’re free to move on as what is said after this really has little to no bearing on the game, the competition, the stream, or anything like that. It’s perhaps cringe and perhaps awkward. No stress. You can back out from here now and continue checking out the rest of the site, the discord, the streams, etc. I’ll give you time to hit the back button now…

I recognize that the world right now is a really serious and really unappetizing place in some respects. There’s so much outside of all of our control and things feel precarious and overbearing most times– TLDR being here, wherever here is for you, can feel very depressing.
As the kids might say, I’m an Unc (gender neutral usage here). I’m over the hill. Whatevs. When I was younger I knew early on I was kinda weird in comparison to my peers. I loved anime, kpop/jpop, horror, obscure video games, unusual music, ballroom/vogue, etc before any of these were the cool mainstream thing to do. I was pro internet before internet was widely accepted as a useful tool to rely on. I remember a world when someone said “anything is possible” and you really believed it.
The thing that drives me… more than anything else… is the idea that a little bit of light, a little bit of joy, a smile can be spread to someone you may not have even met face to face, within seconds. You could have had the shittest day ever,
lost the most important things to you in the world,
lost the things that make getting up worth it,
lost the things you thought made you… you.
For me… this year especially has been that kind of experience…
But even in that deep dark void, that horrible gaping maw of unending anxiety, fear, death, meaninglessness… the terror that is the state of the world. Deep losses. Breaking down. The horrors blaring endlessly across screens… not the creativity of fiction, but rather the seeming inevitability of reality…
Even there… there are still flickers of joy. Glimmering moments worth savoring, and wonderful people who continue to try to bring light into the lives of others.
I hope to uplift and share space with folks like that-
Who think it’s worth being there for people. Who live to bring smiles in oceans of monotony and melodrama. More than anything… I want to turn the tides-to usher in small ripples of value, so that one day the world might return to invaluable waves of wonder.
It’s not a perfect answer. But at least right now… that’s the answer I got.
